The homeland was lost due to Foam Rage, a plague not unlike rabies, but one that seemed made to torment the Wolf Warriors specifcally. Years have passed and now Madguts the Murderous bravely offers to reclaim the territory to win the hand of his heir bearess, Mewgull. A fallen Wolf royal from the dissolved Dreadful Drone tribe. The tribe once lived in what is now the Uglithugs Territory. Other tribes seem very willing to contribute help and the virus seems to be have disapated. Or does everything seem too good to be true?
There are many renditions of this story that Ive heard but I shall tell you the most common version of it. A lot of little details shaved off.
In the ancient days, as viking-kind was finding its footing in the harshest parts of the world, there were many other beings that walked alongside them. There were dragons, there were possibly even ghosts, but there was one that stayed in our inspiration for years.
Wolves.
They weren't quite the same as the wolves we know today. These wolves admired humanity so much that they asked the Gods for to join them and they were given the power to Shift. Even as humans, they were taller, stronger, and very powerful! Strongest of all was their fierce loyalty that outweighed the Vikings combined!
As time went on, Vikings didnt appreciate these qualities enough and only saw the ones that they envied. The Vikings also wanted the power to Shift. It was a common belief that wearing the pelt of any animal could give you it’s strength and power.
Now it may have seemed the Wolf Warriors were all powerful and no weakness...
It didn't take long to figure out that the Wolf Warriors turned into humans when they died. Yet, if they were scared they would turn back into wolves and couldn't Shift back. It was easy to scare them when they knew they were going to be harvested for fur. It was a grim solution that I dare not say in words.
Wolf Warriors panicked when they learned the extent of Viking greed and cruelty. Almost overnight, they seemed to vanish. They demand for their pelts and power did not.
Bounties were put out and the locations of hiding Warriors were sold.
Some tribes pretended to be sancturies only to turn on them when the pressure of Hunters became too great.
The nightmare practice did stop eventually because it didn't work!
Put the pelt on under a full moon, try it on a rainy night, try it on in a certain pond, adorn it with silver, or use the eyelids over your own- none of it worked.
It didn't matter that the Vikings gave up. The damage had been done and we have not seen the Wolf Warriors since.
